Sabbath greetings Berean family,
How important is early childhood education? In contemplating this question, I was reminded of the story of Joseph and Potipharʼs wife (Genesis 39). Josephʼs childhood education was such that when Potipharʼs wife tried to seduce him, he fled from her presence. He deemed it more important to honor God than to succumb to the advances of another manʼs wife. Joseph said, “...how then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” Notice he didnʼt say against Potiphar, but against God. One can only imagine the education Joseph received that developed such fortitude and firm conviction in one so young. This young man, who was sold into slavery at the tender age of 17, obviously had been taught that sin, in all its various hues, is first and foremost against God. It appears that Joseph was taught that love and obedience to God is the highest and most important education a person can receive. Because of Josephʼs fidelity to God, God elevated him, a slave, to viceroy of Egypt. God truly does honor those who honor Him!
Is it possible for our youth to obtain an education that will teach them to honor God like Joseph did? Iʼm sure you know the answer. It is only through a Christian education. God-fearing men and women are produced through a God-fearing home and educational environment. Berean, God has given us the wonderful opportunity to help young boys and girls develop that fortitude of character that will say yes to Godʼs way and no to sin. We can do this by placing our love gifts in the baskets that are brought to us by the children at Offering time or in a tithe envelope. Please write the donation amount on the Education/ Scholarship line. Thank you so much for supporting Christian education.
