The Ministries of our Church
Spotlight 6 4 2011
Happy Sabbath, Berean! It’s hard to believe that another school year is just about over. As many arepreparing for the graduation festivities that are soonto occur, I’m reminded of the graduation day when Jesus returns to claim His very own “graduates,” and class will be dismissed and life’s earthly school will be forever closed. I’m so grateful that our Instructor, Jesus Christ, has given us the Holy Spirit to be our mentor and protector. We know that His sole purpose is to prepare us for that glorious graduation day. When Jesus left earth after His resurrection, He promised us, “…I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:2-3.
So, if you’re ever feeling like you’ll never make the “grade,” trust God’s promises of forgiveness and grace and rest assured that all of heaven is pulling for you. The entire angelic host is poised to give you a standing ovation as you walk down the center of the golden streets to receive your graduation crown of life from the hand of our Lord and Savior. What a day that will be! I really, really want to be there, don’t you? We’ve been told as that day nears Satan will be doing his best to secure as many as he can for his kingdom of darkness. How our children will fare in this Great Controversy will depend on whether they graduate with honors and be accepted into God’s heavenly curriculum, or whether they fail to complete the course—a choice they must make while there’s still a chance to improve their GPA (Godly Point Average). Praise God, Christian education implants in them the desire to make the right choice. Let’s support our children in their endeavor to make heaven their home by placing our generous love gifts in the baskets that are brought to us by them at Offering time or in a tithe envelope (indicate the amount on the Education line). Berean, let’s all make plans to meet around the tree of life to eat of its rejuvenating fruits when “finals” are over and the eternal celebration begins! Hallelujah!
