By Toni Osborne,

What a blessing it is to be in the house of the Lord this beautiful Sabbath Day! Welcome one and all to our annual Education Day.

Our theme for today is A Child . . . A Life . . . A Legacy. There is no greater blessing than to share in the joy of shaping the lives of the future leaders of tomorrow. Part of that “shaping” is a Christian education. The children are our legacy. Today you will see that legacy in action as many former youth of Berean, whose lives were shaped by the love and care of this church, share their varied talents with us. Friends, you are in the presence of a church family that takes seriously their calling to be a watchman for the young. We do this by our fervent prayers and support of Christian education. We know that this kind of education will help lead our young ones to the path of eternal life, joy and peace. King David gave sagacious advice to his son when he admonished Solomon to know God, to serve Him and not forsake Him. Christian education teaches this philosophy, and what we do for the youth today will reverberate throughout eternity.

Our goal this year is to raise $2,000 to assist our Adventist college students with the Three-Way Scholarship. If we can give $500 towards each student’s tuition, the Southern California Conference and the college/university will match that amount. This will give each student a $1,500 scholarship. I entreat you to pray and ask God what He would have you to give to make this blessing a reality for our college students.

Brothers and sisters, every time the children see us put our love gifts in the baskets at Offering time, they are reminded that we truly do care about them and their education. If it’s your desire to put your offering in a tithe envelope, please indicate the amount on the Education/Scholarship line. What a blessing it will be when we can say to God, “Here is that beautiful flock that You entrusted to us.” Thank you so much for being here today. May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you.
