The Ministries of our Church
Spotlight 1 7 2012
2011...who would have thought it? Reflecting back and moving forward; it all seems trite—even redundant, but itʼs what we tend to do at the end and beginning of each year. Yet we have to ask ourselves, “Do we want history to repeat itself? Do we want to wipe away certain memories and start brand new? Or, is the past memorable enough to build a future on?” I suppose questions like these cause us to ponder the validity of New Yearʼs resolutions. But letʼs not allow the “chill” of the bleak economic picture “freeze” us from being the light and love God intended.
Whether last year was a good one or one that weʼre glad is over and done with, we can praise God that we have the opportunity to start anew remembering that Jesus has promised to help us, uphold us and strengthen us (Isa. 41:10).
Berean, let us resolve this New Year to warm the lives of others by praying for them, encouraging them, and comforting them. We can help “thaw” the icy grip of temptations that bombard our children daily by keeping them in a safe, Christian environment. We can do this by supporting Christian education. Our love gifts can be placed in the baskets that are brought to us by the children at Offering time or in a tithe envelope (indicate the amount on the Education/ Scholarship line). Thank you so much for caring, and may 2012 bring spiritual, physical and financial blessings to you and yours.
